Elkhorn Dairy Farm

Yggdrasil Land Foundation was gifted this 240 acre property in Elkhorn, Wisconsin by Christopher and Martina Mann in 2001. This land has been farmed organically, with a biodynamic philosophy, since 1990. In the fall of 2013 an additional 60 acres was added to the farm through a purchase financed by several generous donors.

The farm was leased from 1990 to 2016 to Altfrid and Sue Krusenbaum, who operated as Krusen Grass Farms, LLC. The Krusenbaums are excellent farmers and are pioneers in pasture-based dairy and beef farming in southeast Wisconsin. The Krusenbaums grazed 130 dairy cows and raised about 50 replacements/year along with 30 steers/year as grass-fed beef in an intensively managed pasture-based system.

The farm is now leased to Johnson Dairy and Cattle LLC on a long-term lease. The Johnson family began farming this land in the fall of 2016.

In 2000 the property was permanently protected by a conservation easement held by Geneva Lake Conservancy.
